Bruce Willis' mental health is deteriorating, and his ex-wife Demi Moore, current wife Emma Heming, and his five daughters are treasuring every moment with him.
He recently took a 35 minute car drive through Los Angeles's Studio City neighborhood on September 8, 2024.
The former action star appeared frail and distant, seated in the front passenger sporting a black baseball cap and a striped button-up shirt, gazed out of the open car window.
This outing was rare for the beloved Die Hard actor.
His family announced his retirement from acting two and a half years ago when doctors confirmed he had aphasia, a brain disorder that affects communication.
Shortly after, he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
A source revealed to Star that the disease has progressed, causing his family to worry about the limited time they have left with Bruce.
They question if he will even reach his 70th birthday.
This weight is always on the minds of his current wife and caregiver, Emma Heming, their daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, as well as his ex-wife, Demi Moore, and their daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.
Embracing the inevitable, the family's priority is ensuring Bruce feels secure.
"He seldom goes out, and when he does, it's a well-planned operation," as per the source.
"He requires assistance preparing and getting into the car."
Despite his dementia, Bruce's mobility has not been affected, as noted by Tallulah last year.
He is constantly accompanied by caretakers who watch over him and prevent him from getting confused or overwhelmed.

Screen legend Barbara Stanwyck, Robert's first wife, was clad in a yellow suit and wept openly at the funeral of esteemed actor Robert Taylor, who succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 57 in 1969.
The funeral was attended by many leading personalities including Governor Ronald Reagan, a close friend of the actor, who delivered the eulogy at the Forest Lawn Church of the Recessional in Glendale, California.
Barbara, a four-time Oscar nominee known for her roles in Stella Dallas, Double Indemnity, and the TV series The Big Valley, could never erase Robert, who was her second and final spouse, from her memory. The emotions for him always stayed with her in life.
The couple were married for 12 years, they got separated in 1952, and later came together on screen for the 1964 film The Night Walker. "Barbara and I have remained good friends," Robert later commented.
Barbara later admitted that the journey was far from easy. "Losing someone you love, be it by death or divorce, is challenging," she shared in 1981.
"Bob and I didn't stay friendly. We had to rediscover our friendship. Time heals wounds."
Barbara, was a native of Brooklyn, made her Hollywood debut in 1929 after finding success on Broadway.
The former Ziegfeld girl discovered her forte in portraying strong-willed yet affectionate characters.
"Barbara was incredibly versatile," commented Jeanine Basinger, former film studies professor at Wesleyan University.
