Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC) is an educational initiative of The Helpcare Society (THS) specifically designed to support underprivileged children.
The project was founded in September 1998 by Lt. General Muhammad Maqbool (Retd) with his initial funding from his retirement savings.
Vision: Achieving potential by offering equal opportunities.
Goal: Establishing a hub of socio-academic excellence for disadvantaged communities.
Mission: Providing quality education to empower underprivileged children to integrate into the socio-professional sphere.
Generally, TAC School provides FREE education. However, nominal dignity fee has been fixed as PKR. 5 per month or PKR 840 for 14 years of quality education.
Student are provided with two sets of complete uniforms including shoes and undergarments by the school upon enrollment free of cost.
Students are also given high-quality textbooks, and a full array of stationery are also provided.
Physical development and sports amenities are available in the TAC School.
Regular medical examinations, first aid, and preventive medical assistance are also available
Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC) provides an opportunity for children from financially disadvantaged families to receive a high-class English medium quality education in a setting that is comparable to any well-resourced educational institution in Pakistan, starting from nursery to High School level over a 14-year period.
The first TAC School campus was in Faisal Town, Lahore. It was established on September 22, 1998, occupying a 500 square yard single-storey residential house (1 Kanal House).
The school moved to the second campus in Faisal Town from 1999 to 2003, in a 500 square yard double-storey residential house (1 Kanal House).
The TAC school moved to the third campus, situated in Model Town from 2003 to 2008. It covered an area of 1000 square yards with a double-storey residential house (2 Kanal House).
Finally, a custom-built campus in Johar Town was built and occupied on August 14, 2008, with a total area of 7,260 square yards and a covered area of 52,000 square feet (15 Kanals Area).
With the above progress and growth of about 14 years, a second TAC school campus was established on October 6, 2012, in DHA Lahore in collaboration with DHA Lahore administration.
It is heartening to know that the TAC school has been fulfilling its mission very effectively.

Teach A Child School Lahore follows a very strict child selection procedure.
Admission is usually available for 100 students per year (50 each at Johar Town Campus & DHA Campus).
Children must be between 4 and 5 years old.
Policy of allowing only one child per family to enroll.
SATIP (Siblings at TAC Incentive Program) rewards students and parents for outstanding performance over 4 years, making them eligible to apply for a sibling's admission.
WIP (Wards' at TAC Incentive Program) allows teachers and staff to apply for their children's admission at TAC while working at the institution.
The selection criteria of Teach a Child School Lahore (TAC) requires due diligence and validation of all ground facts.
The economic merit of the deserving family is determined by a clear, verifiable source of income, with emphasis on the applicant's socio-economic background.
Parental merit is evaluated based on their willingness and ability to support their child's education.
Competitive intellectual merit is assessed through professional IQ tests utilizing SIT and VMI.
Entry Test (ET), consisting of both written and oral components, is a crucial part of the selection process.
Parents' involvement in preparing their child for the test is a key factor.
The selection process considers both economic and intellectual merits to determine overall suitability.
The Final Selection Committee comprises an Administrator, Head of the Student Department, and a Senior Volunteer.
The Board ratifies the approved list of students.
The top 100 students (50 at each campus) are chosen to begin a 14-year educational journey.

These Volunteers have joined the TAC School Lahore with their own passion and drive to contribute with their skills, talents and time.

Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC) currently provides 'O' Level (Cambridge International Examination) / Matric streams & FSc (National Curriculum).
TAC School has a structured program leading up to professional level (14 school years)
Later 5 years are spent at universities and colleges.
The program at TAC school was initially considered experimental until the completion of the first 19 years, empowering students professionally.
Now it has finished the initial 14 years of school education and students transitioned to the professional phase at universities and colleges in 2012.
After an additional 4 years, the concept has reached its full maturity and has become a role model.

Progress has been steady over the past 18 years, with the first batches of students having pursued higher education at esteemed institutions like LUMS, LSE, and Kinnaird College, and have joined the prestigious white collar work life.
One noteworthy success story is of Lt. Saifullah, who became the first professional to graduate from the program and serve in the Pakistan Army.
TAC School has ambitious plans to guide students towards successful careers through counseling and partnerships with reputable institutions.
TAC School envisions to expand both vertically within the existing campuses and horizontally by opening new branches.
Although the financial sustainability remains a key challenge as it may be with any organization.
But TAC is committed to continue the journey by establishing an Endowment Fund to secure the organization's future.
The focus is also on grooming future leaders to ensure the continuity of the program's mission.
