Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC) is an educational initiative of The Helpcare Society (THS) specifically designed to support underprivileged children.

The project was founded in September 1998 by Lt. General Muhammad Maqbool (Retd) with his initial funding from his retirement savings.

Goal: Establishing a hub of socio-academic excellence for disadvantaged communities.

Mission: Providing quality education to empower underprivileged children to integrate into the socio-professional sphere.


Teach A Child School Lahore School Fees


Generally, TAC School provides FREE education. However, nominal dignity fee has been fixed as PKR. 5 per month or PKR 840 for 14 years of quality education.

Student are provided with two sets of complete uniforms including shoes and undergarments by the school upon enrollment free of cost.

Students are also given high-quality textbooks, and a full array of stationery are also provided.

Physical development and sports amenities are available in the TAC School.

Regular medical examinations, first aid, and preventive medical assistance are also available

Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC) provides an opportunity for children from financially disadvantaged families to receive a high-class English medium quality education in a setting that is comparable to any well-resourced educational institution in Pakistan, starting from nursery to High School level over a 14-year period.


History and Expansion of Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC)


The first TAC School campus was in Faisal Town, Lahore. It was established on September 22, 1998, occupying a 500 square yard single-storey residential house (1 Kanal House).

The school moved to the second campus in Faisal Town from 1999 to 2003, in a 500 square yard double-storey residential house (1 Kanal House).

The TAC school moved to the third campus, situated in Model Town from 2003 to 2008. It covered an area of 1000 square yards with a double-storey residential house (2 Kanal House).

Finally, a custom-built campus in Johar Town was built and occupied on August 14, 2008, with a total area of 7,260 square yards and a covered area of 52,000 square feet (15 Kanals Area).

With the above progress and growth of about 14 years, a second TAC school campus was established on October 6, 2012, in DHA Lahore in collaboration with DHA Lahore administration.

1 - Tehreem Kanwal – ex-TAC Student

  • Tehreem graduated from Lahore School of Economics after studying at TAC Lahore.
  • She did BS with Double majors in Economics and Management.
  • Later she joined Government of Pakistan (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Desk Officer at MOFA.
  • Tehreem's outstanding performance led to her sister Eman Khan being eligible to compete for a seat in Nursery through the Siblings at TAC Incentive Program (SATIP).

2 - Naila Naz - ex-TAC Student

  • Naila graduated from Kinnaird College, Lahore.
  • She did BS in Biotechnology.
  • She was hired at TAC School & Intermediate College as a Senior Biology Teacher.
  • Naila later appeared in the final interview for CSS in January 2020.
  • She also completed her LUMS MS in Biology 2 years.

3 - Beenish Tariq - ex-TAC Student

  • Beenish graduated from Kinnaird College in BS Bio-Technology.
  • She joined Bio-Medical Lab, Near Thokkar, Lahore as a Microbiologist.
  • She also did M.Phil Bio-Technology from Punjab University Lahore.

4 - Ijaz Ahmed – ex-TAC School Student

  • Ijaz did his Chartered Accountancy from SKANS College Lahore.
  • He joined KPMG Chartered Accountants company.
  • Ijaz has traveled to Saudi Arabia now for his job.

5 - Tayabba Naeem – ex-TAC School Student

  • Tayabba graduated from Lahore Garrison University did her BSc majoring in Bio-Chemistry.
  • She joined Berger Paints, as Senior Chemist.
  • She also did MSc in Bio-Chemistry and M. Phil in Bio-chemistry from Punjab University.

6 - Naima Malik – ex-TAC School Student

  • Naima graduated from FC College University in BS Chemistry.
  • She joined Berger Paints, as a Senior Chemist.

7 - Atif Riaz – ex-TAC School Student

  • Atif graduated from LUMS in BS Computer Science.
  • He joined ‘Find My Adventure’ company, Karachi as Chief Technical Officer (CTO)
  • He also worked with TRG International.
  • He has been earning a monthly salary of Rs. 150,000 after joining the work life.

8 - M. Mubeen – ex-TAC School Student

  • Mubeen graduated from University of Central Punjab, Lahore in BS Computer Science.
  • He did his MBA in Marketing from Roosevelt University, Chicago, USA.
  • Mubeen's younger brother, Jazib, qualified as a Chemical Engineer from PU Lahore and joined the MS program at Oregon State University in 2019.

9 - Mutahir Abbas – ex-TAC School Student

  • Mutahir graduated from Punjab University and did his Masters in Mass Communication.
  • He is self-employed; offers private tuitions in the evening Punjab University.

10 - Mubashra Mazkoor – ex-TAC School Student

  • Mubashra graduated from Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Lahore in BS Visual Communication Design.
  • She joined AUJ Group at Arfa Towers as a Senior Visual Designer.

11 - Arooj Irfan – ex- TAC School Student

  • Arooj graduated from University of Education, Lahore BS in Mathematics
  • He joined The Educators (Boys Campus) as a English Teacher.

12 - Zain ul Abedin – ex-TAC School Student

  • Zain graduated from University of Education, Lahore, with B.Com & M.Sc. IT.
  • He joined Uber Technical Department, Lahore as a Technical Support Executive.

13 - Mehrunnisa Saleem – ex-TAC School Student

  • Mehrunnisa graduated from Lahore Garrison University BSc majoring in Bio-Technology.
  • She also did MSc Bio-Technology and M. Phil in Biotechnology from Punjab University.

Teach A Child School Lahore – TAC Selection Procedure & Criteria

Teach A Child School Lahore follows a very strict child selection procedure.

Admission is usually available for 100 students per year (50 each at Johar Town Campus & DHA Campus).

Children must be between 4 and 5 years old.

Policy of allowing only one child per family to enroll.

SATIP (Siblings at TAC Incentive Program) rewards students and parents for outstanding performance over 4 years, making them eligible to apply for a sibling's admission.

WIP (Wards' at TAC Incentive Program) allows teachers and staff to apply for their children's admission at TAC while working at the institution.


Selection Criteria of Teach A Child School Lahore


The selection criteria of Teach a Child School Lahore (TAC) requires due diligence and validation of all ground facts.

The economic merit of the deserving family is determined by a clear, verifiable source of income, with emphasis on the applicant's socio-economic background.

Parental merit is evaluated based on their willingness and ability to support their child's education.

Competitive intellectual merit is assessed through professional IQ tests utilizing SIT and VMI.

Entry Test (ET), consisting of both written and oral components, is a crucial part of the selection process.

Parents' involvement in preparing their child for the test is a key factor.

The selection process considers both economic and intellectual merits to determine overall suitability.

The Final Selection Committee comprises an Administrator, Head of the Student Department, and a Senior Volunteer.

The Board ratifies the approved list of students.

The top 100 students (50 at each campus) are chosen to begin a 14-year educational journey.

They all come from privileged backgrounds but are dedicated to serving the under privileged community for their welfare and helping them to elevate in society.

Teach a Child School Lahore (TAC) provides a very motivating environment for them to work either full time or on part time basis.

Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC) currently provides 'O' Level (Cambridge International Examination) / Matric streams & FSc (National Curriculum).

TAC School has a structured program leading up to professional level (14 school years)

Later 5 years are spent at universities and colleges.

The program at TAC school was initially considered experimental until the completion of the first 19 years, empowering students professionally.

Now it has finished the initial 14 years of school education and students transitioned to the professional phase at universities and colleges in 2012.

After an additional 4 years, the concept has reached its full maturity and has become a role model.

The journey of Teach A Child School started in 1998, by the Lt General Muhammad Maqbool (Retd).

With his passion, sincerity, honesty and commitment, many other hands started to join him in this nobel journey to serve the underprivileged children and to make them privileged class in the same society.

Progress has been steady over the past 18 years, with the first batches of students having pursued higher education at esteemed institutions like LUMS, LSE, and Kinnaird College, and have joined the prestigious white collar work life.

One noteworthy success story is of Lt. Saifullah, who became the first professional to graduate from the program and serve in the Pakistan Army.


Future Outlook for Teach A Child School Lahore (TAC)

TAC School has ambitious plans to guide students towards successful careers through counseling and partnerships with reputable institutions.

TAC School envisions to expand both vertically within the existing campuses and horizontally by opening new branches.

Although the financial sustainability remains a key challenge as it may be with any organization.

But TAC is committed to continue the journey by establishing an Endowment Fund to secure the organization's future.

The focus is also on grooming future leaders to ensure the continuity of the program's mission.

TAC School’s future vision extends towards the establishment of a TAC University and international outreach, offering privileged education to underprivileged communities worldwide.
